The Sarnia-Lambton Coordinating Committee on Violence Against Women recognizes the importance of a systems perspective in establishing an integrated response to violence against women. The committee believes that we all have a responsibility to work toward the elimination of violence. This responsibility extends beyond the clients we serve, to a traditionally patriarchal society and its attitudes towards women. We must work toward changing socialization patterns and attitudes that underlie and perpetuate violence against women. Our commitment to educate, advocate and coordinate service will result in a practical application of “zero tolerance” to violence.

  • To foster a united effort among professional agencies and organizations in order to promote community awareness and professional responsibility regarding the issues of violence against women.

  • To review/support community initiatives and grant applications for a collaborative community approach.
  • To review/adopt an advocacy role based on recommendations from the Advocacy Committee.
